M1 helmets

The M1 was introduced in the Dutch Armed Forces in 1943, by the Marine Brigade who were trained at Camp Lejeune by the uSMC. In 1944, during the liberation of the southern Netherlands, the Stoottroepen in Limburg were equipped with American uniforms and weapons, including the M1 helmet. M1 helmets have also been used by the Dutch detachment (NDVN) during the Korea War, 1951-1953.

In addition to the Troop Helmet (m53), the M1 was used on a limited scale until the mid-1990s, until it was replaced by the composite Combat Helmet (m95).

The letters KP means Kamp Politie (Camp Police).

A post-war liner (1953) made by MICARTA and used by the Korps Mariniers.
These were to replace rejected or lost liners.

A fixed bales, front seam steel shell which has been revised to m53 Troop helmet specifications. Helmet is painted in a dark green colour and a Dutch model chin strap is placed.

At the front, an anchor and the letters MP (Marine Patrouille) had been applied in white paint.
